Meet the Staff
Erik J. Walton is the Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney. Erik obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise, and his law degree at Appalachian School of Law. Erik has worked in the Lee County Commonwealth Attorney’s office as a Deputy prosecutor since 2008, and has served as Chief Deputy since 2015. Before law school, Erik served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps.


Sarah H. Wynn is the Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney. Sarah is a 2002 graduate of Virginia Tech and a 2006 graduate of the Florida Coastal School of Law. Before joining the Lee County Commonwealth Attorney’s office, Sarah served as a Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney in Wise County from 2007 to 2015. Sarah has also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney since 2013.
Walt Rivers is a Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney. Walt graduated from Clinch Valley College in 1978 and William & Mary Law School in 1983. From 1985 to 2022, Walt worked in private practice, specializing in criminal defense. During that time, Walt tried over 200 cases before juries including 15 capital murder cases, and earned a reputation as one of the top trial lawyers in the Commonwealth. He joined the Lee County Commonwealth Attorney's Office on April 4, 2022.


Don Williams, Jr. is a Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney in a grant-funded position through 2024. Don is a 1992 graduate of Clinch Valley College and a 1996 graduate of Cumberland School of Law. Don specializes in cases involving firearms and violence.
Martha Elkins serves as the Administrative Assistant. Martha is a graduate of Pennington High School and Mountain Empire Community College. She has worked in the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office since 2001.


Amanda Christian is the Office Manager. She graduated from Mountain Empire Community College in 2016 with a degree in paralegal studies. While at Mountain Empire, she received the Exceptional Graduate Award, an award given to the top student in Paralegal Studies. She previously worked for the Wise County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office from 2016-2020.
Angela Bloomer serves as the Legal Secretary. Angela started with the Commonwealth Attorney's Office in 2016.
